Composition:
FOSFOMYCIN SODUM BP eq to fosfomycin 10gm
Indication:
Fosfomycin Sodium is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly acute cystitis caused by susceptible bacteria. It is also useful against certain multidrug-resistant infections.
Description:
Fosfomycin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic belonging to the phosphonic acid class. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis at an early stage.
Fosfomycin Sodium BP 10 g is usually given as an intravenous (IV) infusion for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including multidrug-resistant strains.
Common indications include:
Complicated urinary tract infections
Bone and joint infections
Respiratory tract infections
Bacteremia and sepsis (in combination therapy)
It is especially useful against Gram-negative pathogens, including ESBL-producing and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.

Usage Information
Dosage
Typical adult dose: 12–24 g/day IV, divided every 8–12 hours This pack contains: Fosfomycin sodium BP equivalent to 10 g fosfomycin Reconstitute with sterile water and dilute in suitable IV fluid Administer as slow IV infusion over 30–60 minutes Adjust dose in renal impairment as per creatinine clearance (Exact dose should be determined by a physician based on infection severity and patient condition)

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting Headache, dizziness Hypokalemia, increased liver enzymes Injection site reactions Rare: allergic reactions, seizures (high doses)
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin Severe renal impairment without monitoring Use in neonates only if specifically indicated and monitored Use during pregnancy/lactation only under medical supervision
