Description:
Metronidazole 200 mg + Rifaximin 100 mg is a combination antibiotic designed to treat bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract. This combination provides dual-action against intestinal infections caused by bacteria and parasites.
Metronidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa. It works by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms by interfering with their DNA structure.
Rifaximin is a non-absorbable antibiotic primarily used to target and treat gut-related infections caused by Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It acts locally in the gut to reduce bacterial overgrowth and helps in managing diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other gastrointestinal issues.
This combination is often prescribed for treating conditions such as Traveler’s diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with diarrhea, and infectious colitis caused by sensitive organisms.
