Sucralfate 1gm
Indication:
In Troublesome Conditions of Ulcer
Description:
Sucralfate 1gm is a gastroprotective agent primarily used to treat and prevent gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It forms a protective barrier over ulcers or damaged mucosa, shielding it from stomach acid, pepsin, and bile salts, which allows for faster healing.
Unlike antacids, sucralfate does not neutralize stomach acid but rather acts locally at the ulcer site, adhering strongly to damaged tissue and providing sustained protection for up to 6 hours per dose.
Tags:
- Promotes ulcer healing by forming a protective barrier
- Reduces symptoms of heartburn and acidity
- Non-systemic action (minimal absorption)
- Useful in stress ulcers and GERD-related discomfort
