Description:
Fluconazole 400 mg is a high-strength, broad-spectrum systemic antifungal belonging to the triazole class. It works by inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. This action disrupts the integrity of the fungal cell wall, leading to cell death.
Fluconazole 400 mg is commonly prescribed for severe or systemic fungal infections, including cryptococcal meningitis, esophageal candidiasis, disseminated candidiasis, and as prophylaxis against fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or organ transplants.

Usage Information
Dosage
Take Fluconazole 400 mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Often used as a loading dose, followed by maintenance therapy (e.g., 200 mg daily). Swallow whole with water; can be taken with or without food. Do not discontinue without medical advice, even if symptoms improve early. Regular monitoring of liver function and blood tests may be required.
