Indication:

Atypical Pneumonia, Respiratory & ENT Infections, Skin & Soft Tissue Infections, Eradication of H.pylori Infection ( M DT).

Description:

Clarithromycin 125 mg is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, leading to the suppression of vital bacterial processes. This formulation is supplied as a dry powder with Water for Injection (WFI) and is intended for intravenous (IV) administration after proper reconstitution.

Indications include:
Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis), skin and soft tissue infections, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and infections caused by Helicobacter pylori in combination therapy.

Usage Information

Dosage

Reconstitution: Mix the dry powder with supplied WFI prior to use Route: Intravenous (IV) infusion (slow administration) Usual Dosage (Adults): 500 mg twice daily (adjusted for severity) Pediatric Use: Adjusted per body weight (usually 7.5 mg/kg twice daily) Duration: Usually 5–14 days or as directed by a physician Do not administer IM (intramuscularly)

Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea Abdominal discomfort Headache or taste disturbances Local site irritation or thrombophlebitis Rare: Liver enzyme elevations, QT prolongation, allergic reactions

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Clarithromycin or other macrolides Concurrent use of drugs causing QT prolongation (e.g., cisapride, pimozide) Patients with severe liver dysfunction Use with statins or ergot derivatives may lead to toxicity Avoid in pregnancy unless necessary; consult physician
