Usage Information
Dosage
Initial titration is crucial for safety and efficacy: Week Dose per day (in 200mg tablets) 1 1 tablet (200mg) 3 times/day 2 2 tablets (400mg) 3 times/day 3+ 3 tablets (600mg) 3 times/day (Max: 1800mg/day) Tablets should be taken with food to reduce nausea. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include: Nausea, vomiting Loss of appetite Diarrhea Fatigue Skin rash or photosensitivity Dizziness Photosensitivity warning: Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Pirfenidone Severe liver impairment End-stage renal disease (eGFR <30 ml/min) Use with caution in elderly patients and those on hepatotoxic drugs
