Description:

Torasemide 40 mg is a loop diuretic prescribed to manage moderate to severe edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, renal disease, and hypertension. It promotes the excretion of water and salts (mainly sodium and chloride) by inhibiting their reabsorption in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidneys.

Compared to furosemide, Torasemide offers better bioavailability, longer duration of action, and lower variability in patient response, making it a preferred choice for chronic fluid retention.
