Description:
Obeticholic Acid 10 mg is a synthetic bile acid analog used primarily in the treatment of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), a chronic autoimmune liver disease. It works by activating the farnesoid X receptor (FXR), which helps regulate bile acid production, decrease liver inflammation, and reduce fibrosis progression.
When used alone or in combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), Obeticholic Acid helps manage bile acid levels, slowing disease progression and improving liver function in patients who respond inadequately to UDCA alone.
