Description:
Teicoplanin IP 200 mg is a glycopeptide antibiotic used to treat serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, including those caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Enterococcus species. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bactericidal action.
Teicoplanin has a long half-life, allowing once-daily dosing, and can be administered via intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) routes. It is often used as an alternative to Vancomycin, especially in patients at risk of nephrotoxicity.
Indications include:
Bone and joint infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bloodstream infections (bacteremia, septicemia)
Endocarditis
Respiratory tract infections
MRSA and multi-drug resistant infections
