Description:
Ceftazidime 2000mg + Avibactam 500mg is a combination of a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic (Ceftazidime) and a non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor (Avibactam). This powerful combination is used to treat complex, multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacterial infections. It is especially effective in treating hospital-acquired pneumonia, complicated intra-abdominal infections, and complicated urinary tract infections caused by resistant strains, including Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Avibactam enhances the effectiveness of Ceftazidime by inhibiting bacterial β-lactamase enzymes that would normally inactivate the antibiotic, thus extending its spectrum against resistant organisms.
Tags:
- Treats life-threatening, multidrug-resistant infections
- Effective against extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) and KPC-producing organisms
- Synergistic action improves bacterial killing and resistance coverage
- Safe for use in adults with proper renal function monitoring
- Administered in controlled hospital settings for critical infections
