Indication:

Nausea & Vomiting associated with - Radiotherapy - Chemotherapy Prophylaxis & Treatment of Post Operative Nausea & Vomiting

Description:

This combipack injection combines two essential medicines:

  • Ondansetron 2 mg/ml – a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that effectively controls nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.

  • Ranitidine 25 mg/ml – a histamine H2-receptor antagonist that reduces stomach acid production, preventing acid reflux, gastritis, and stress ulcers.

Together, this combination is highly effective in:

  • Preventing post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV)

  • Managing chemotherapy/radiation-induced nausea and gastric discomfort

  • Preventing gastric irritation due to NSAIDs or stress in hospitalized patients

  • Used in pre-anesthesia protocols

Each unit typically includes two ampoules or a dual-chamber vial, one for each drug, to be administered separately as per instructions.

Usage Information

Dosage

Route: Intravenous (IV) administration, separately Ondansetron: 2 mg slowly IV before chemo/surgery Ranitidine: 25 mg IV diluted in saline over 5 minutes To be administered by a medical professional Frequency as per medical indication (usually every 8–12 hours if required)

Side Effects

Ondansetron: Headache, constipation, dizziness, rare QT prolongation Ranitidine: Mild headache, fatigue, rarely bradycardia or elevated liver enzymes Local injection site irritation (rare)

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to either Ondansetron or Ranitidine Congenital long QT syndrome (Ondansetron) Severe hepatic impairment Use with caution in patients with renal dysfunction (Ranitidine) Concomitant use of QT-prolonging drugs
