Description:
Artesunate 60mg is a fast-acting antimalarial injection used for the treatment of severe malaria, especially Plasmodium falciparum infections, including drug-resistant strains. Artesunate is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin, derived from the sweet wormwood plant (Artemisia annua), and works by rapidly reducing the parasite load in the bloodstream.
It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly in hospital settings under medical supervision, especially for critically ill patients or those unable to take oral medications.

Usage Information
Dosage
Adults & Children: Initial dose: 2.4 mg/kg IV or IM at 0, 12, and 24 hours, then once daily Route: Intravenous (IV) or Intramuscular (IM) injection Treatment duration: 3–7 days, followed by complete oral ACT (e.g., Artemether + Lumefantrine) Note: Reconstitution with sodium bicarbonate + normal saline required before administration
