Description:
Cefoperazone + Sulbactam is a combination antibiotic used to treat a wide range of moderate to severe bacterial infections. Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin, disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. However, certain bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes, which can neutralize Cefoperazone. Sulbactam counters this by inhibiting β-lactamase, thus restoring and enhancing Cefoperazone’s antibacterial effect.
The 1:1 ratio (500mg each) makes this dose particularly effective for moderate infections and useful in outpatient and inpatient care.
