Composition:

Rifaximin 400mg

Indication:

Non-Invasive Travelers Diarrhea, Hepatic Encephalopathy

Description:

Rifaximin 400 mg is a non-systemic, broad-acting antibiotic used to treat gastrointestinal infections. It is especially effective in managing traveler's diarrhea caused by non-invasive strains of E. coli, hepatic encephalopathy by reducing ammonia-producing gut bacteria, and certain cases of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D). Unlike many other antibiotics, Rifaximin acts locally in the intestines with minimal systemic absorption, resulting in a lower risk of systemic side effects and drug resistance. This 400 mg strength is often prescribed where a higher dose is needed, tailored to the severity and type of condition.
