Natamycin 0.5% w/v Ophthalmic Solution is a powerful antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections of the eye, including fungal keratitis and other superficial ocular fungal infections. Natamycin belongs to the polyene antifungal class and works by binding to ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, disrupting their integrity and causing fungal cell death.
This ophthalmic solution is especially effective against filamentous fungi like Fusarium and Aspergillus species. Natamycin 0.5% provides targeted antifungal action, helping to eradicate infection, reduce inflammation, and prevent serious complications that may lead to vision loss.
