Levofloxacin 0.5% w/v Ophthalmic Solution
Levofloxacin is a broad-spectrum, third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic used in ophthalmic preparations to treat bacterial infections of the eye. At a concentration of 0.5% w/v, it effectively inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing replication and leading to rapid bacterial cell death. This formulation is commonly prescribed for bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, and other ocular surface infections.
