Description:

This ophthalmic formulation contains:

  • Gatifloxacin 0.3% w/v: A broad-spectrum fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens responsible for ocular infections.

  • Flurbiprofen 0.03% w/v: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins which cause inflammation, redness, and swelling in the eyes.

This combination is typically prescribed to treat bacterial eye infections while simultaneously reducing inflammation, pain, and discomfort, especially in post-operative cases or inflammatory ocular conditions.
