Description:
Gliclazide 80 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg is a fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This dual therapy works via two complementary mechanisms:
Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea, stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, helping to reduce elevated blood glucose levels.
Metformin, a biguanide, decreases hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake.
This combination is indicated in patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, or monotherapy. It helps control both fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels, providing better glycemic management and long-term diabetes control.
Tags:
- Dual mechanism improves glycemic control effectively
- Lowers fasting and post-meal glucose levels
- Reduces HbA1c more efficiently than monotherapy
- May support cardiovascular risk reduction
- Convenient oral dosing improves adherence
