Description:
Linagliptin 5 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride (SR) 500 mg Tablets is a fixed-dose combination used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This combination combines two effective antidiabetic agents working via different mechanisms to improve blood glucose control:
Linagliptin (5 mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormone levels, enhancing insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion, especially after meals.
Metformin Hydrochloride (SR) 500 mg: A biguanide with sustained-release formulation that decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, providing long-lasting blood sugar control.
Together, these agents provide complementary effects to manage both fasting and postprandial glucose levels, reducing HbA1c and improving overall glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
