Linagliptin 5mg + Dapagliflozin 10mg is a fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination designed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication combines two complementary mechanisms to improve blood glucose control:
Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances incretin hormones, increasing insulin release and decreasing glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by promoting glucose excretion through urine by blocking its reabsorption in the kidneys.
Together, they help lower HbA1c, reduce fasting and postprandial glucose levels, support weight loss, and have a low risk of hypoglycemia when not combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. This combination is typically prescribed alongside diet and exercise for better management of type 2 diabetes.
