Linagliptin 5 mg

used along with diet and exercise and sometimes with other medications to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes
Description:
Linagliptin 5 mg is an oral antidiabetic medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of DPP-4 (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4) inhibitors, which work by increasing the levels of incretin hormones. These hormones help regulate blood glucose by enhancing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner.
Linagliptin stands out among DPP-4 inhibitors due to its non-renal route of excretion, making it suitable for patients with renal impairment without the need for dose adjustment. It is often used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents like metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin to achieve optimal glycemic control.
