Description:
Empagliflozin 10mg IR is an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the class of SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitors, used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, promoting glucose excretion through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Apart from glycemic control, Empagliflozin also offers cardiovascular and renal protection. It is particularly beneficial for patients with co-existing heart failure or chronic kidney disease, and has been shown to reduce hospitalization risk due to heart failure.
As an immediate-release (IR) formulation, it is designed for rapid absorption and onset of action. It is generally used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, or insulin.

Usage Information
Dosage
Recommended Dose: 10mg once daily, taken in the morning with or without food. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your glucose levels and kidney function. Maintain adequate hydration during therapy.
