Composition:
Acarbose 25mg
Indication:
A convenient and effective long-term option for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
Description:
Acarbose 25mg is an oral alpha-glucosidase inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by slowing down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine, thereby reducing the rise in blood glucose levels after meals (postprandial hyperglycemia).
Unlike insulin secretagogues or insulin, Acarbose does not cause hypoglycemia when used alone. It is most effective when taken with the first bite of a main meal and is commonly prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise or in combination with other oral antidiabetic medications.
Tags:
- Effectively controls post-meal blood sugar spikes
- Supports overall glycemic control in type 2 diabetes
- Non-systemic action—works in the gut with minimal absorption
- Low risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy
- Can be combined with other oral antidiabetic drugs
