Description:
Zolmitriptan 5mg is a selective serotonin (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist used primarily for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura. It works by stimulating serotonin receptors in the brain, leading to constriction of dilated cranial blood vessels and inhibition of pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release, thereby relieving headache pain and associated symptoms such as nausea, photophobia, and phonophobia.
Zolmitriptan provides rapid relief, typically within 2 hours, and is effective in reducing migraine severity and duration. The 5mg oral tablet strength is commonly prescribed for adults and adolescents above 12 years.

Usage Information
Dosage
Initial dose: 5mg at onset of migraine attack If needed, a second 5mg dose may be taken after 2 hours Maximum dose: 10mg in 24 hours Do not use for prevention of migraine or hemiplegic migraine Follow doctor’s guidance for use in adolescents or special populations
