Description:
Calcitonin Salmon 2200 IU is a potent, synthetic polypeptide hormone that mimics the action of human calcitonin but is derived from salmon, which has greater biological activity. It is used for the treatment of osteoporosis, Paget’s disease of bone, hypercalcemia, and other conditions where inhibition of bone resorption is beneficial.
Calcitonin acts by inhibiting osteoclast activity, thereby reducing bone breakdown and calcium release into the blood. It also has analgesic properties useful in managing acute bone pain due to vertebral fractures. This strength (2200 IU) may be administered parenterally (e.g., subcutaneous or intramuscular injection) or provided in divided doses depending on the formulation.
