Description:

Sultamicillin 750 mg is an oral antibiotic containing Sultamicillin Tosylate, which delivers Sulbactam 294 mg and Ampicillin 440 mg. This synergistic combination is used for treating a wide range of bacterial infections by enhancing the effectiveness of ampicillin against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

  • Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.

  • Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents bacteria from deactivating ampicillin, thus enhancing its efficacy.

  • Sultamicillin Tosylate is a mutual prodrug, improving oral absorption and reducing gastrointestinal side effects compared to parenteral therapy.

It is commonly used for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin and soft tissue infections, and gynecological infections.

Side Effects

Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, headache. Uncommon: Abdominal cramps, candidiasis, skin itching. Rare: Allergic reactions, liver enzyme elevation, blood dyscrasias. Seek immediate medical attention if signs of severe allergic reaction appear (e.g., facial swelling, breathing difficulty).

Contraindications
