Description:
Sultamicillin 375mg is a combination antibiotic that contains Ampicillin and Sulbactam in a 375 mg dose, designed to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which helps to prevent the breakdown of Ampicillin by bacteria, making it more effective in treating infections that are resistant to ampicillin alone.
This medication is used to treat a range of infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin infections, and intra-abdominal infections. Sultamicillin 375mg works by disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of the bacteria.
Ampicillin: A broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic.
Sulbactam: An inhibitor that enhances Ampicillin's effectiveness against resistant bacteria.
Available in oral dosage form for ease of administration.
