Description:
Favipiravir 200 mg is an oral antiviral medication originally developed for influenza viruses. It is a RNA polymerase inhibitor, which means it prevents the replication of viral RNA inside infected cells. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was repurposed under emergency use authorization in several countries for mild to moderate COVID-19 infections.
Favipiravir is most effective when administered early in the course of viral infections. It helps reduce the viral load, shorten symptom duration, and minimize complications. It should only be used under medical supervision and is not a first-line drug for severe infections.
